How UAE regulation shapes architecture

Building software for the UAE market is not only a technical exercise. The federal Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and the separate DIFC Data Protection Law No. 5 of 2020 impose real obligations on how personal data is stored, transferred, and processed. For clients in regulated sectors — banking, insurance, healthcare — data residency requirements can dictate which cloud region a database lives in before a line of code is written. We make those decisions explicit at the architecture stage rather than discovering them during a compliance review.

Our approach to AI and LLM integration

AI features are only useful in business software if their outputs are auditable. We integrate models from providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic behind a layer that logs prompts, records sources, and constrains responses to retrieved context — a retrieval-augmented pattern — so a user can see why the system produced a given answer. An AI feature that cannot explain itself is a liability in a regulated environment, and we build accordingly.

Observability and ownership

Custom software is only an asset if you can see inside it and change it. Every system we build ships with structured logging, error tracking, and health metrics, so that when something behaves unexpectedly there is a trail to follow rather than guesswork. Automated tests guard the behaviour that matters, and continuous integration runs them on every change. Crucially, you own the result outright — the source code, the cloud accounts, and the deployment pipeline are yours at handover, with no proprietary runtime that locks you to us. A client who decides to take the system in-house, or move it to another team entirely, can do so without renegotiating access to their own software.

Fixed-scope or retainer

We structure engagements two ways. A fixed-scope project suits a well-defined build with a clear endpoint: an MVP, a specific platform, a defined integration. A retainer suits ongoing product development where priorities shift month to month. We recommend whichever fits the work, and we say plainly when a smaller project would be better served by a freelancer than by us.

Senior engineers only

A representative custom software engagement runs like this. We begin with a discovery brief that defines the problem, the users, and the success criteria. We produce a technical architecture and a fixed-scope quote. Development proceeds in reviewed increments with automated testing and continuous integration. We harden the system against an OWASP baseline, deploy with infrastructure-as-code, and run a quality-assurance pass. At handover you receive the source code, the infrastructure, and the documentation, plus an optional support retainer. Where a system needs ongoing technology guidance, our IT consultation team stays available after launch.
